Celebrations at De Havixhorst

Some places have a way of turning special moments into memorable experiences. De Havixhorst, a small chateau with a fine dining restaurant, is one of those places. Centered in a tranquil countryside, this historical estate became the setting for my 33rd birthday celebration.

Upon arrival, we - us with our son Oscar - were welcomed with a glass of champagne and amuse-bouches, setting the tone for an evening of refined indulgence. The restaurant’s impeccable service and the chef’s culinary creations really made our dinner, with nicely paired wines enhancing each course. But what made the evening truly special was the final course. We were guided to the estate’s wine cellar downstairs, where our table with warm blankets on our chairs awaited us. Oscar, too, was treated like a little prince and received his own special bowl of ice cream. Having the last bites of our dinner together in such an intimate setting was the ultimate family quality time.

As we retreated to our family suite, we had a lovely, calm night, only to be gently broken in the morning by birdsong from the surrounding forest. The next day, right after our breakfast, we explored the estate and enjoyd the cold yet sunny morning.

Birthdays need to be celebrated in grandeur, right? Well, De Havixhorst offered just that.
